Hierarchy of Control for Heights

Why "wear a harness" is the bottom of the hierarchy, not the top. Apply elimination → substitution → engineering → admin → PPE to a real at-heights task.

Harness & Anchor Inspection

Pre-use inspection against AS/NZS 1891 retirement criteria. Webbing, stitching, hardware, lanyard, energy absorber, and anchor point. The defects that take a harness out of service immediately.

Fall Arrest Distance

The maths that decides whether your fall arrest system actually stops you above the ground. Lanyard length, deceleration distance, harness stretch, anchor height — worked examples for the most common site setups.
